What was the question again?

I want to hear from other developers to find out if they see their job as a developer/programmer as just their job which they turn up for and go home, or whether they are extremely passionate about it, and it is part of who they are.

Let me give you some examples.

Meet Bob

Bob is a web developer who has been working in the industry for 10 years. He's had 2 or 3 different jobs, but all around the same technologies that he is comfortable with. He sees his job as a way to earn some money so he can live. Outside of work he has hobbies such as sports or watching TV. He doesn't do any side projects and isn't interested about learning new technologies outside of his work hours. He believes if he has to learn a new technology for his job, it should be during his working day. When he is commuting he listens to the radio or blasts his favourite album out.

Meet Dave

Dave works at the same company as Bob as a web developer. He's also been doing programming for about 10 years. He has worked in different technologies, but now really enjoys .NET Web Development. Dave loves his job and feels very lucky to be paid for something that he would do as his hobby. Outside of work Dave has several side projects on the go and contributes to Open Source Software projects. He is a member of several development forums and Slack groups. Dave is always keen to learn new skills, so he gets free trials for sites like pluralsight. When he is commuting he listens to podcasts about programming.
